DFW to Houston to Austin road trip

Taking advantage of the first dry weekend in over a month I did a DFW to Houston to Austin road trip.

I had not yet visited Houston so wanted to check out the downtown biking the Buffalo Bayou trails.
Spent good part of afternoon riding those trails and took a nice break at the famous St Arnolds bier garden and brewery. Lots of good food, beer, and fun. Place was packed at 3pm on Friday and its hugh.

Next day, went to one of my favorite rides doing the Austin Colorado river, Austin Lake, Barton and Deep Eddy spring creek areas. Nice to get all the nice shade along the trails in Austin.

Will post some pix ...

That would have required carrying some touring packs which can be attached to the Surly.
That brings to mind the GASP "Great Austin to Shiner Pedal" that the brewery use to support.
I did do the last 2019 Shiner event which is super fun with all the food, beer, and music party celebrations.
Maybe 2022 since the GASP is a May event.
Hope the Tour De Gruene happens this year ? Its the same time as the Wuerstfest sp? which is another great Octoberfest type party.

The BUffalo Bayou trail is pretty (though less so when the muddy bayou is flowing real high like it currently is thanks to the discharge from the reservoirs, but there are lots of other bayou trails and protect hike & bike trails all over the city. Buff Bayou is pretty tiny comparatively. Next time you come down send me a message I will tell you where to check out or even ride with you.
Beautiful Straggler by the way - love that color.
