We've been very, very lucky, with our PurpleAir numbers solidly in the green, despite the amber morning sunlight. I'm going to go pick up some N95s. Last September was bad...

Yeah my ride this morning was under an orange glow. Didn't smell the smoke but there were small specks of ash here and there. I was wondering why my bike had all these spots (roof rack,freeway) and just thought it was freeway type of debris. Then when I was preparing for my ride I saw a few landing on my car. Funny thing is Purple Air was still green when I started at around 8. At least I got a ride in.

Since I ride later in the day, and all of Woodside and Portola Valley is >100, I guess it's a good thing I didn't cancel Zwift!

Huh.2 hours later, and my entire afternoon route is <80. Probably be even lower by the time I get there.

Just did a ride up Sandhill, through Portola Valley and then through Los Altos Hills. Wasn't too bad. I saw the same thing on Purple Air...earlier it was showing over 100 but during my ride wasn't bad and the temps were pretty good too.

Just got back from riding in Woodside and Portola Valley. There's high altitude smoke, but not much at ground level. Subject to change without notice, of course!

The other day I was riding in the Berkeley Hills, the AQI was in the 60-80 range, and I didn't smell smoke. However, there was a bit of ash falling, and by the time I got back, I was was coated in a thin layer of grime. I took my helmet off and I even had the shark's teeth pattern in grit on my forehead. I didn't wear a mask because of the AQI numbers, but I can't imagine it's very good to be breathing in ash particles! I know the 2.5 particles are what the PA sensors test, but the larger ash particles have to still be bad for people to breathe. I was coughing for a few hours afterward clearing out crap.
