1988 Schwinn Ontare
Seat Tube 57 CM Center to Top
Top Tube 55 CM Center to Center
Schwinn originally named this bike the "Avion" but because of a legal dispute renamed it as the "Ontare". This is ultra rare in this condition.
Stock except for the Tires, Bar Tape and Saddle. No Pedals

Lovely and a reasonable price from a first class seller.
However, I would venture to say that the hoods are not original.

Beautiful bike. Looks pretty much like the frame on my Schwinn 684 which is a really good ride out on the road. Looks like a great deal for someone. GLWS!

This looks like it has an American Classic quill seat post, which is also a desirable upgrade to the post that came stock on later models of this series bike, which is well known for cracking. A subtle but significant selling point. Beautiful machine, good luck with the sale!

This quote is from a facebook page dedicated to these wonderful old bikes:
"In the late 80's to early 90's Schwinn decided as a last ditch effort to make an "affordable" high performance racing road bicycle. Licensing several patents - welding techniques and frame building ideas from Klein Bicycle Corp(Gary Klein was MIT graduate who was the first to produce a light weight aluminum oversize tubing for bicycle frames) the Schwinn PDG Aluminum was born! PDG (Paramount Design Group) was the high end Schwinn race engineering and design division in charge of those amazing racing frames that made Schwinn and Paramount famous for decades and PDG was put in charge of making designing the glorious valkyries of aluminum and passion (the PDG aluminum bikes), at least to me. "

I was at a bike swap and found one of those quill American Classic posts. Having a 754 on hand that had a cracked post, I paid a bit more for it than I wanted to. Even so, it was probably a pretty good deal, considering its relative scarceness.
