Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hmmmm... white or black saddle?

White would go with my white handlebar tape, white accents on the satin black frame, yeah... that's the ticket! Or, is white too girlie? Other than Brooks, I've never had saddles that weren't black.

Maybe if the 105 cranks were chrome but being black, perhaps white would look a bit garish.

I picked up my 2015 Z5 a month ago. Had the shop swap the white bar tape out for black, and as soon as I got home, the white saddle came off in favor of a black one. White bar tape stays clean for like 5 minutes then looks gross. I have had white saddles before, and they get dingy looking as well.

White or Black Saddle?

I too have a Specialized Tarmac in gloss black with white accents, I installed a Fizik Arionne saddle that is white with a black stripe on the center.

Black saddles with miles on them look a lot better than white ones. DO you plan to put on those miles?

If I live long enough. Hey... maybe white will be more visible to texting motorists!

I like to match my bar tape to the saddle, that said, as much as I love the white bar tape look, I eventually went black as I find it too hard to maintain clean white.

Murphy always seemed to drop my chain immediately after putting on new white tape...

I like white saddles and have them on two bikes, but black looks more than just fine on his bike. How about red instead?

Thanks all: I pulled the lever -- found one with black rails and lettering that sealed the deal. Now, if it'd only had a splash of red...

I always match the saddle to the tape too.

Matching the saddle to the tape when possible helps balance the look. In your case, I think it will definitely do so. In the photo, you have that gleaming white in the front and all that back on the post and saddle. The bike is screaming for a white saddle.

+1 That's why I don't like spending big money on gloves. Inviting the next opportunity to put them on the road.

My take - handlebar tape, seats, shorts and shoes should be black to better represent the sport after the miles are put on.

Personally, I think white saddles and handlebar tape tend to look a bit grungy over time. Black will always look grungy.

I would go with mostly white, like a Fizik Arione.
