No HOA on our street, but it is possible to run afoul of the city. Though I suspect at this point with the drought you'd be more likely to run into trouble if your yard was especially lush.

I only did that ride once and I suffered miserably on the last part of that climb. I was fine until the last stop I think it was Angeles Oaks?, then the last 15 miles it felt like my stomach was going to explode. Altitude usually doesn't bother me but maybe it had to do with a 35 mile climb to altitude or maybe something I ate.

After a bit of descending I felt much better. Never went back but I did some mountain biking on a trail following that road one time.
