52/14 on Saturday morning ride

Glorious day in Chicago area today. Morning ride saw a few brief light showers. Out on my Super Course. Ran into my Guatamalan friend, Jimmy, early in my ride. He was riding with the Filipino group. These guys are fast and do long 100 mile plus rides. I jumped in briefly but they were going strong. No way I was staying with them. Did my usual 25 mile ride. Along the route there were small groups, big groups, a lot of husband /wife pairs which was nice to see. Coffee shops along the way were busy with cyclists sitting out front. Just a great day. On the way back had a couple compliments on my Raleigh. One was from a guy on the tail end of a small group. I jumped in with them for a few miles. Good pace, smooth riding bunch Then came "the hill". I forgot about "the hill". Everyone goes all out going down "the hill". The pace ramped up. The guy who complimented on my bike took off. When he did I said "thats it for me". I was going to let the group go but put it in my 52/14. Dang if I didnt hold on for awhile. The Super Course is really smooth. And the big 27 x 1 1/4 tires just absorb everything the road throws at ya. Look out Wayne and Dale, I'm back! Hehehe.

By Lioyd Park. Not the road down to the beach. Southbound on Sheridan from Tower Rd. The last blast, the home stretch, before traffic gets hairy.
