Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My daughter asked me not to wear them to her games if I ride there- I told her no.

Have not discussed yet, but the first half of the race will be determined by where Expedition® tells us to enter the Gulf Stream, unless there's big weather. I hope this navigator isn't the kind who chases phantom eddies. Most of the time, south of the rhumb pays off.

If either my wife or kids were to tell me that, at the very least, I'd tell them that they need to buy some nice riding shorts for me to wear.

My wife says when I'm dressed to ride, nobody would recognize me, because I look like an alien insect. So she doesn't object to the lycra.

Good luck! I'll be watching.

My wife doesn't object either. She knows it's insurance against any other woman ever finding me attractive.

Yeah, mine have never shown any objection, either, but if they did, that would be my response.

And yeah, I'm completely incognito in kit and it cuts both ways - no one from my non-cycling life recognizes me in kit and no one that knows me only as a cyclist recognizes me in plain clothes. I've creeped out a friend of 25+ years by wordlessly slow rolling next to him on a bike path - he was starting to get uncomfortable before doing a double-take and realizing that it was me . Other times, in plain clothes, I've come across people that I've ridden with and I've had to introduce myself because they thought I was some random weirdo that started a conversation with them and somehow knew their name.

Fortunately for me my worlds never collide like that.
