Large Mongoose Chrome ATB Klunker
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...0765896219623/
Large Mongoose Chrome ATB Klunker $420
Seeler says:
"
Here is a vintage 80's Mongoose ATB city klunker build. This frame was made in the USA. Fully Chrome. ATB stands for "All Terrain Bicycle" and its what these days would be called a hybrid. Great for touring, commuting, anything really. Has eyelets for fenders and racks. There is some surface rust, particularly on the handlebars but for a chrome bike in the midwest its pretty damn clean. - Bullmoose handlebars (quill and headset is a proprietary size, keep this in mind if you plan on switching the bars) - Brooks flyer saddle (nice) with a quick release seatpost for easy adjustment - 1X7 drivetrain with mostly Deore M700 deerhead stuff, except for the Suntour shifter and Sugino chainring with double guard - Dia Compe canti brakes and levers (better than Shimano in my humble opinion) - Brand new Schwalbe balloon tires on Deore M700 hubs and Araya rims - MKS grip king pedals - Oury glow in the dark grips"

My guess is that this is a 1989 Trek 970 with blacked-out magenta decals (electrical tape?)

Trek 620 - Reynolds 531
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...6169919055460/
Seller says: "Classic Trek 620 Road Bike. Road bike in storage for years now available. Reynold’s 531 frame" Seller is asking $300
Bike looks like it could use a solid cleanup, but looks good to me under the dust and grease.

Do you think that the front derailleur is proprietary? I wouldn’t think there was one with a small throw enough to be mounted far out over the chain set...

$100 in Sterling Heights, MI: Alleged Trek 400 with "Tangalloy 2001 double butted tubing" -- anyone else thinks this sticker is fake or a joke or at least misapplied?
This bike looks to me like mid 1980s at the latest... no downtube shifter braze-ons... one set of bottle bosses...and the classy old panels. Can't actually see the model name. Looks like a good deal for $100 for a bike to play with... like an IGH conversion..

@AeroGut:
>> “Mangaloy 2001” is Tange’s manganese steel alloy (similar to Reynolds 531) from the 80s
Thanks. Didn't realize it could be that old.
But of course, in the 80s, "2001" was cool... before everyone panicked about the Y2k bug
So much learning going on on this thread!
cheers -mathias
EDIT: It's a 1983 per vintagetrek.com.
Tange Mangalloy + panels nails it down.
Nothing special but I bet it rides nice.

If you like pretty decent mid 90's rigid mountain bikes from usually deplorable brands, here is one for $150

BEAUTIFUL!! If that was a bit bigger I’d be looking for a facilitator. That’s probably the nicest looking 700c Mountain bike you’re likely to see. Yes these Projects are real deal mountain bikes not fancy pants hybrids
