On a custom bike I had a decal made in small script - of an old nickname.
When it got repainted, no such decal was necessary to make it special.
YMMV

edit: @OldsCOOL= no matter what you call it, that's Classic. I

My current five bikes as listed on my Strava profile.

BikeNames by Spinners1961, on Flickr

Speckled Jim by Spinners1961, on Flickr
'Speckled Jim' (named after a pigeon from 'Blackadder Goes Forth') is my 2019 Cannondale CAAD12 Team CNCPT but it has yet to turn a pedal and will debut next Spring. (Stock Photo)

RubyTuesday by Spinners1961, on Flickr
'Ruby Tuesday' gets it's name by being red and most often being ridden on a Tuesday cafe ride with the gang.

+1 - i can agree with brushed metal alloy frames, but it does not have to be aluminium.

I have no names for them, but I certainly call them "Flipping POS's" when it mis-shifts or I'm in the big ring while I'm trying to cross in front of traffic from a dead stop.

Manbearpig and redtailed.
Manbearpig for gravel as it is a mix between road, cross and mountain (one-by).

I bought an Electra Loft 7i in Green Tea color (because they were out of blue), so her name is Jasmine. But then, I name pretty much everything. My car is a white Kia Soul, so her name is Psyche.

yes...four current bikes and four names...the most accurate is "blitzen." next bike (already have the vintage red steel frame)
will have downtube shifters and be named "lolita" when it gets built up in 2021. can't wait to shift into the small ring.

My Bikes Name is "UD", short for Ugly Duckling, the photo on Craigslist (100 miles north of our home) looked good but in real life it was pretty ugly! It took a lot of "minor adjustments" and scrubbing to get it to look as good as it does now, it could be called "Phoenix" but I'm going to stick with "UD"!!

The original Craigslist Photo

Fixed, lubed, adjusted and scrubbed and polished with upgrades!

I like! My two good fixies had flip-flop hubs that i flip often I carry Pedros "Trixie"s on each. (On mountain days, I also carry a chainwhip and at hilltops, swap the big cog for a 12 or so. The lockring spanner on the Trixie comes into play!)

Edit: Consider gifting your Trixies with Trixies, (Very good on hub nuts, great lockring spanner.)

I used to call my Bianchi, the Bianchi (yeah, I know very original). Now that I have a new one, it’s The new bike, the Fondriest, and the old Bianchi. Sorry old Bianchi.

Well, since I posted in this thread several years ago, I have acquired several new-to-me bikes. (thanks to the n+1 infection that I got from BF.net)

'84 Univega Viva Sport was just 'the Univega' until I got the '84 Univega Gran Tourismo, so that didn't work anymore. So therefore the Viva Sport is just 'Viva' and The Gran Tourismo is 'the touring bike' or 'Getting There' -- a play on the initials GT because 'getting there' is all part of the journey. (cue the < groan > for the bad pun... )

The '86 Miyata 710 is 'the Miyata', but since I got another one ('88 615) earlier this year from a forum member and is supposed to go to my niece, mine is still 'my Miyata' and that other one is "Vic's Miyata" until such time that she is able to travel here to get it... Or I might have to just ship it to her... Whatever she chooses to name it is up to her...

And as I explained in my Profile signature below, I have that mountain bike of unknown lineage (no name/decals/stickers anywhere on it) and since it is a MTB, it is called the Mutt Trail Bike or 'Mutt'. < another groan >

My bikes come and go. Some stay for a while. Some longer. None have names, per se. I distinguish them by their brand, color or their function.

My wife: "Good ride? Which bike did you ride today?"

Me: "The French Jeunet. Nice ride, very energetic. It felt good. Thanks for asking."

My wife: "Which one is that again?"

Me: "It's the white one."

My wife: "Oh"
