Campagnolo spacer bolt

Hi

While taking off the chainrings I noticed one bolt was on the other side for removal behind the arm.

I've never seen this before.

When I received nos chainrings there is no spacer.

I checked my other bikes....... campy equipped and no spacer there .
The 5 bolts are easily removed. No arm in the way.

Is a spacer really needed.?

Appreciate any and all help

See pics

It's been a long time, but I don't believe there was a spacer on the C-record era cranks. But you will need the "nut" from the old chainring (that rusted thing in the center of the first pic). Unless you have a new one, of course.

If you are referring to the pin sticking out of the chain ring, it is intended to keep the chain from jamming between the chain ring and crank arm if it comes off.

Good observation. It never crossed my mind that he was referring to the pin.

If it is the pin your talking about, there should be one behind each crank arm on your other bikes. The C-Record has it in a different position due to one chainring bolt behind the arm.

Thanks guys for the great knowledge and responses

Really appreciate it

I guess on others I have seen from that era, campagnolo didn't believe the chainring needed that pin anymore .

thank you again
