Notices
Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

What's the longest proper race you've done?

Annapolis-Bermuda. That's 753 nautical mi. by the shortest route. I have no idea how many miles we actually sailed the two times I did it.

Sail drives have always been a PITA. Great when they work though.

Looks like they have some fairing to do on the trailing edge of the keel.

Exactly. Quiet and smooth and backs up like it's on rails.

Yeah, that's a quick fix for some rust on the keel. We are due for stripping and epoxy re-encapsulation next winter. Iron keels are a huge PITA too.

Ive had two iron keels. The first was troublesome and required some rust removal at every bottom job. The second lasted ten years with not a spec of rust. Both sat in the water year round.

The fixers think there are galvanic gremlins at the dock, but we've had rust at two marinas.

Lots of stray current in marinas. I’ve learned to never swim around them.

Our two were at the same marina, but some distance apart.

Today is looking to be a primo day for riding in the late afternoon - 80s and no 20mph headwind. BUT they're doing a Prescribed Burn along my route, AND I just got the new Zwift Play controllers and haven't had a chance to play with them yet. If nothing else, the ability to do most things I have to lean over and use the keyboard for will be a big bonus.

how much were they? I might consider it. I put in about ~1/3 of my training in the garage.

$99 right now, but they'll be going up to $149 sometime soon.

The steering response is apparently faster than other steering mechanisms, and the navigation buttons are SO much easier to use than leaning over to my left to try and work the mouse on the table I have set up next to the trainer. I did one quick run through of the "Repack Rush" route that has things to aim for and others to avoid. There's also braking, which I suppose may come in handy some time in the future if they change the game physics so that you can't just bomb down twisty descents at 50 mph.

Got Rolla mostly working on the iPhone, FireTV, and Kickr yesterday. The graphics are a step up from Zwift, but it's very beta at this point.

I dont like the name. Canadian Pacific & Southern would have been better. Ill bet the name choice had a political element to it.

I had a good ride today. We took the trail all the way into Philadelphia. There was a regatta along the river and best I could tell it was a women’s event and there were a ton of fit young women which made me feel like John Ritter at the opening credits of “Three’s Company.”

I believe the legal term is an “attractive nuisance.”

Anyway ride was good, I did see several triathletes wobbling back/forth on their aero bars, as is the custom on the MUP.

Speaking of Three’s Company, I am the skinny guy in the pic with my two friends.
