Sidi road shoes - where to purchase?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sidi road shoes - where to purchase?

Where's a good place to shop online for a new pair?

Sizing - mine (pictured below) is stamped 43 on the bottom in raised numbers. Is that the European sizing?

I did not notice any ratchet systems like those pictured below - mostly the techno 3 system dial. If you use them, how do you like them? The right side ratchet bar receiver fell off the right shoe the other day just as I was gearing up. Luckily it was just a philips screw back on type situation but it got me thinking.

Here's my old pair - more than 30 years on the road.

30 years!!!! I wish I could try Sidi shoes as well. I just might get some at $100 per decade pricing

Seriously though, that is *very* impressive

Merlin and some other places used to have great prices on top of the line Sidi. Not anymore. I don’t think they’re allowed to sell Sidi here now.

You could also try Competitive Cyclist. You might also want to consider Lake shoes. I have Sidi road shoes and Lake cyclo-cross/MTB shoes. The lakes fit better. I am pretty average for size at 10 1/2 US or 45 Euro with average width.

Competitive Cyclist is a good source. They don't discount the top of the line shoes very often if at all though. Shoe fit is such an individual thing. I hate the fit of Lake's I have tried but love Sidis. II think it is because my feet are slightly narrower than average.

If you want to go Sidi top of the line the Shot model is being closed out now in favor of the Shot 2 and you can get some good prices. I have both and can say that the Shot 2 is an improvement but may not be worth the extra cost at full retail.

Those look like the Sidi Genius line, they have two velcro straps and a ratchet strap. I wear the Megas, which are a bit harder to find, but if you do a Google search you should find some options.

I like the "techno dial" that Sidi uses better than old school velcro and ratchet straps, but I find a standard Boa closure on my Fizik shoes to be easier to deal with, especially when wearing gloves.

The little red button to get the techno dial lever to pop-out frequently gets stuck on my Sidi's, and often the little lever gets stuck open.

Otherwise, my Sidi's have been fantastic. They're very stiff and fit is on the narrow side.

Since Sidi no longer makes road shoes that take SPD SH-51 cleat sets, I went with a pair of Trace 2 MTB. Got them from ebay seller nonstopciclismo.gear. Since I knew my size is 43, the fit is perfect from the first mile.

Just don't count on them lasting 30 years - my pair of Lake MX238 is falling apart right now, just after one year. Not something I've expected from $330 shoes...

Here is the Sidi Genius mentioned before. I had a pair of these, and only replaced them because I wrecked them doing something stupid. the ratchet strap is replaceable too! one of the things I like about Sidi is that spare parts exist, although they are sometimes hard to find. I don't think we need to tell you that Sidi shoes will last a LONG time!

Pretty much available anywhere. Your size there should match sidi sizing now, don't think it's changed.

Velcro is long gone as the primary closure on most shoes now except for some triathlon shoes. Sidi's version of the boa closure - techno 3 is really a favorite of mine. I have it on all my shoes - road, mtb and gravel. You can easily adjust while riding and it's very comfortable and very adjustable.

Competitive Cyclist and Bike Tires Direct both have Sidi on sale now at 25% off. Good time to buy Sidi.

I'm a huge Sidi fan and have been wearing them going back 25 years now. While I normally wear a wide shoe with Sidi's I've always been able to fit comfortably into the standard (non Mega) sizes. The fit has remained consistent over the decades too.

One caution: even those shoes are imprinted 43 they could be 43.5's. I believe both are built with the same sole.

Colorado Cyclist also has the Sidi shoes on sale. I decided on the most discounted style they had (35% off). Which was the faux python snake skin version of the SIXTY carbon sole shoes. Perfect fit as always with Sidi.

Compared to the fizik R1 knit (size 40), the Sidi shoe (size 41.5) is a little roomier in the toe area. The fizik shoe is an overall tighter fit.

A second for both Competitive Cyclist and Backcountry, they interchange on orders frequently, same folks as I understand it. Got my Genius 5 for half price, on clearance a couple of years back. Still the best pair of road shoes I own, feel and fit better than the Specialized Torch 1 pair I got last year.
