Pairing Garmin 500 new cadence sensor

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pairing Garmin 500 new cadence sensor

Does anyone know how to do this? Garmin technical support isn't available until Monday. The cadence sensor instructions say consult the computer manual. The problem is the 500 manual isn't updated for the new sensor. I think I should see options to scan or rescan but all that comes up are rescan.

Specify "speed and cadence" rather than "speed/cadence" when you go to pair them. you'll have to select "speed/cadence" at first and let it fail, but then the new menu items will appear under "speed/cadence" that will let you select the correct profile.

Tried the above and nothing worked. I talked with Garmin support today. The Edge unit I had didn't have the software update even though the previous download shows it took. I used Windows 10 with Explorer and that sometimes doesnt work. I ended up setting up a new Garmin connect account and re-entered the Edge SN
