ISO one Continental Grand Sport Race 27x1-1/4" tire. Doesn't have to be new at all; just trying to match a single one I have here.

Andy, I likely have a set of fairly narrow ones (e.g., 38cm)--though I won't be home until the weekend to check if you're in a hurry.

Thanks, Neal. Probably not a rush, and I definitely need wider.

Huret FD - 2 Available

501c eBay auction, ends today at 12:55PM EDT. Price with shipping for each is currently <$14 US (plus applicable taxes) if shipped to a US address. Don't know if they ship internationally or not.

Currently no bids on either. Seller does not accept offers but typically relists items that don't sell, often after reducing the minimum starting bid.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255647520147

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255647520179

Sorry for the late notice - was poking around on the Internet today and just ran across these. Perhaps someone here needs one.

I've done business with the vendor; I do not have any commercial interest in the vendor.

Edited to add: source also has two Suntour LePree available for <$24 US (plus applicable taxes), shipped to US address, with no current bids. Second is long cage. I believe someone here was looking for one within the last few months. These listings also end at 12:55 PM EDT today.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255647519750

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255647519993

FWIW: this vendor often lists a wide variety of vintage parts they've pulled from donated bikes at auction. Might be worth an occasional look if you're having trouble finding something specific.

I will take a look in my heap. Like Neal, I might have a few 38s but I seem to remember a 40 or 41 in there somewhere.

Shiny new, or rider quality?

I have a pair of SR Road Champions 41 wide, rider quality (look real good near the stem).

Hey Dave - I'm not particular, but doesn't shiny always win? :-)
Regarding widths I'm beginning to wonder if a rando bar for my wife's Moto would helps prevent her left hand from getting a bit numb. Narrow for her is the right size. LMK, and thanks.

Many thanks. I seem to have a lead on the same bars in 42, which comes closer to my size.

Huret made many variations of this basic design, almost all cosmetic, with one major exception shown in the second example.
It has a sprung inner cage "nose" which aids upshifts noticeably.
There were several variations with this feature, the best of which has an aluminium body and arms and a cutout steel clamp.

Thanks for the info, oneclick. Always eager to learn, and I have to admit that I don't know all that much about French cycling components from the 1980s and earlier.

Hurets with this feature are not common.

The cage can be transplanted if you get one (well, two) of the varieties that have the arms held on with screws.

Look for Huret Success front derailleur. Huret Success can be fully dismantled. There is very similar Huret Challenger, but I think they used more standard cage.
There is one downside to Huret front derailleurs' cage plates. They are narrower than in many FDs one might be used to (or Shimano ones I used). Which means there is some inevitable and, in my opinion, unnecessary chain rub. Good remainder to shift the front as you progress through the back sprockets, but can be a tad annoying nevertheless.
Another downside is that their derailleurs from the 70's, the ones that can be dismantled are a real pain in the back to assemble again. They used a fairly nice, but a bit overengineered system of levers and a spring which is almost impossible to get back in place. So proceed with caution when taking them apart and if you don't have to take something off to lubricate it, don't I mean, they sure built in a lot of awkwardness into their front derailleurs.

ISO, I have a garage full of bike parts I might have what you need.

This thread is so long I don't have time to read it all NOW, maybe later. I have boxes full of 100s of parts from 100s of bikes. Parts are on 2nd floor stairway is 40 years old & outside in the weather and in dangerous condition. I use to collect bikes to repair and give to kids that need bikes. I use to have several kick back shifters, peddle backwards to shift to next speed. I have an old 27" 3 speed real wheel. I have several Schwinn bikes and parts. Too much stuff to list. All this stuff needs to be gone.

You really should read it all, going back to 2018. The content is right up there with East of Eden and The Brothers Karamazov.

Sounds like something you would need to work locally. There is also a pay it forward thread.

Start by letting everyone know your location. Shipping isn't really going to work in your scenario.

During a ride today my rear axle snapped.

Campagnolo 10mm x 26tpi and 134/135mm length. Anyone have such a beast? Alternatively I'd try a Wheels Manufacturing one?

I'd pay cash, probably easier that trying to organize a trade

Kurt is right. You don’t have to post exact location, just town, state or just zip code. Anyone interested needs to know if they are local/short drive to you. Also some pictures would help a lot.

Otherwise it might just be “crickets”.
