Painting a Frame Pump
I decided that it is time to rebuild a bike that is yellow with red trim. For the past few years, there has been a black HPX under the top tube, held securely in place by the pump peg braze on.
I like Zefal pumps. Only ever had one that didn’t work, and that was only after it got run over by a bus. So, I would like to paint a Zefal. But there is the hand grip issue. The plastic on the hand grip is not gonna take paint like the barrel. I am not super worried about an exact color match, but I would like a paint that will stick to both materials.
Any suggestions? With an open ended question like that, I do understand what I may be in for.

They make regular ol' spray paints you find down at the big-box store specifically to adhere better to plastic.
Two-part paints can adhere to plastic quite well, and you can buy two-part paints in special spray cans - just not at Wally World.
You could also paint the hand grip red, the barrel yellow, so no matchy-matchy worries.
Here's a Zefal I did, but I did paint it with the 2-part paint I used on the frame. Probably clear-coated it, too.

You might also try automotive vinyl wrap or plastic dip. They now come in all sorts of colors.
The thing with painting the handle is, the paint might wear out quickly with use.
Maybe paint it the correct color, then wrap it in clear vinyl wrap to protect it from wear?
Maybe also consider powdercoating.

When it comes to anything painted, Nothing is permanent . It will chip, peel or rub off. The good thing is that you cam always repaint it or touch it up. They have spray paint that adheres to Plastic and it comes in as many colors as the paint made for metal. So matching paint shouldnt be too much of an issue.
Paint away, It'll work .

recently bought a bike with a Silca pump, poor rattle-can respray.
I removed the paint, with lacquer thinner and primed with automotive primer after wet sanding the barrel to finish off the original foil stamping impressions.
Then Chromabase. Not sure if I will clear it, these pumps originally had a low luster finish.
The Chromabase shrinks down very well.
I opened up the pump so there was about 9" of the plunger shaft exposed and masked that and the brass end fitting.
After painting removed the tape covering the end, and set the pump vertically on a nail.

Don't spray the plastic grip, remove it and just spray the aluminum barrel and handle (masking the shaft as noted). Most rattle-can paint ALSO has issues sticking to aluminum, you don't HAVE to remove any factory paint but DO lightly sand and DO clean it with solvent AND apply an "aircraft" primer that is designed to stick to aluminum. Then any rattle can top coat will adhere much better

You need a long screwdriver to reach the screw at the bottom of the barrel.

Does any one have a source for the feet on the bottom of the pump?
I'm thinking of doing the same with the pump on my Fuji. A silver pump in front of a gold decal just doesn't look right to my eye.

Google Zefal. A few years ago, I bought some new feet for a pump from Zefal. I think it was 3 bucks for the feet and 5 bucks shipping. Different times of course.
