Which tire do you use for an indoor trainer?
I'm looking at trainer tires and all have some neg' reviews with wearing out fast, bubbling etc. What is a good one to get?

However for all the negative reviews you read, you have to consider that many of them probably were not just the tire. Maybe the person wasn't very good at regularly checking tire pressures. It's just as important on the trainer as it is on the road.
Some people claim to get good results with just their regular road tires. I've just never tried as when we got the trainer as a used purchase, the tire came with it.

I used the same Vittoria trainer tire when I had a wheel-on trainer. Compared to a regular road tire, it was much more quiet, it slipped less and it didn't create rubber dust.

I tried using old, worn road tires. Didnt slip, noise didnt bother as i had music on headphones, but it did create a lot of rubber dust. Probably best to get a dedicated trainer tire if you can find one and afford it.

I have over a thousand miles on a GP 4000 that I took off my road bike. Works fine and has not made a mess yet. I just can’t see spending money on a trainer tire when I have used tires laying around.

I used a Tacx trainer tyre on my wheel-on trainer. It was a tad quieter than using an old "road" tyre, but that's about it.
If you're not worried about a a couple of decibels or some additional black tyre dust (I never noticed much) then sticking with a road tyre may be a cheaper option and just as good.

I’ve never used a special trainer tire. Just an old tire that’s gotten too worn for the road. Never been an issue.
