Elby Bikes
I've followed Elby ever since testing their BionX D-500 equipped commuter bike six or seven years ago and being very impressed by the performance, although at $3,000 not of interest since I ride mainly off road. Somehow they've managed to keep using the BionX motor even though BionX has been out of business for awhile and seems to have sold their excess inventory and proprietary information elsewhere. For 2022, Elby has replaced the DD BionX rear motor with what appears to be a 500w geared system and increased the price to $4.500. Seems pretty steep for that configuration. We'll see!

$4500 for a hub drive with 9 speed? Jeez, that seems super duper steep? I can get a Bosch Speed Motor and 10 speed Deore and suspension fork for $400 less from Gazelle (Ultimate T10+). Or I could get 11 speed SRAM with Brose from Specialized for $500 less (2022 Vado 4.0) or I could spend $1250 less and get 9 speed (Shimano) from Specialized (2022 Vado 3.0). A vintage frame with generic components and SRAM X5 and a hub drive for that price just seems crazy.
I can't imagine they will sell that thing for that price unless people really don't do their research.

plus a hub would suck on all the hills. I see some crazy stuff being sold anymore. himawan makes a bike that looks like it has a mid drive and some cheap suspension but its just a really heavy version of what they already make.

I agree with both above, especially since purchasing a 500w, 48V hub kit for $325 and a battery (which is used on the hub system and a mid-drive) for < $500.
