Thoughts on a Pinarello Prince?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My thoughts are as follows,
I know absolutely nothing about the bike except it is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

If I owned that thing I'd never come out of the garage because I'd want to look at it all the time 😆.

Have you looked at Pinarello’s new Paris? Last Summer, I was considering buying a Prince and tried both. I found the Paris much more suitable to me. Like the original poster, I am a recreational rider, i.e. no races.

The Paris replaced a Cannondale Synapse which I liked and had updated with Ultegra Di2. I had the Di2 components swapped over to my Paris and couldn’t be happier.

How would you describe the difference between the Synapse and the Paris? I bought a 2018 Synapse with Ultegra Di2. It was a very nice bike but seemed to lack responsiveness. In 2020 I bought a Super Six and swapped over the Di2. After 26 years on a Merckx Century and a brief interlude on the Synapse the Super Six is a lot of fun. Handles more responsively. How would you describe the Paris’ handling vs. the Synapse?

Personal preference plays a big part here - I would pick white over orange. Maybe part of it is because it's a Pinarello. The legacy of Big Mig on a white Pinarello can't be ignored.

The geometry of the two bikes is very similar and I did not notice a huge difference riding the Paris compared to ridng the Synapse as far as overall comfort was concerned.

With that said, and what little experience I have since I bought the Paris at the end of the summer, the Paris seems to be a much more responsive in both steering and overall handling compared to the Synapse. The synapse, though, is a very good bike and I enjoyed it when I owned it.

Dogma's geometry will give more saddle to bar drop for a more aero position.

From a Trek Domane the OP currently has, the Dogma will have a difference of 20.8 mm in stack height. The Prince only has about 5 mm lower stack. While you could leave 20 or 30 mm of spacers under the stem of the Dogma, then if the OP's bike doesn't already have the stem slammed, then they may not like the position.

But...... The OP AFAIK, has not said a preference on position.

To me knowing what position you want when purchasing a bike is important. The bikes with lower stacks generally look sexier and draw you to them. However if you don't want that aggressive a position then the bike will get dorked up with steerer tube extenders and aesthetically unpleasing and weirdly angled stems. Within a few degrees, stems look better when they are horizontal or roughly parallel to the road.

Don't look at bikes that don't give you the position you wish to ride them in.

Meh. That was the trend before black. I'd rather have black than white.

IMO, the orange looks really sharp!

A modern Pinarello road bike with nose up B17 is why I keep coming back to this place.

Legit- that color is cool.

I am currently a happy/satisfied owner of a Trek Domane SL5 (Shimano 105 endurance bike). My goal is to use the Domane as a gravel and trainer bike and the Pinarello primarily for my road rides.
Because I don't race, most of what I'm looking for in a bike are more in the "hobby" category/motivation (vs. motivated by performance or extreme practicality).
That being said, I'm looking for an Ultegra level groupset with Di2 electronic shifting, and an integrated headset. Price point in the $5-6k range. Planning on upgrade wheelset in the future.
Looking for an all round/endurance bike that's a bit more aggressive than the Domane's endurance geometry (but not too racy/uncomfortable). I don't see my self having the time to ride more than 2 hrs on a regular basis.
That being said, what do you guys think of the Pinarello Prince? Do any of you own one? What are the pro's and cons? What else should I consider? (have looked at Cervello, Canyon, etc. The Domane is a perfect bike for me, but I don't really want another one lol).
Penny for your thoughts
Since its only a penny's worth of thoughts, here they are in no particular order.

- Pinarello's site is terrible. The lack of useful info is shocking to see in 2023. My guess is they think it doesnt actually matter and they will get by on their name.
- Pinarello continues to be slightly relevant because they throw gobs of support to Ineos. The wavy frames arent actually magical in ride/performance to any number of other bikes.
- How is a price not even listed on the site? See 1st point for further thoughts on this. It looks like the bike costs $5700 from a quick google.
- Very few will have actually ridden this bike because of how few shops actually carry the bike in the size someone wants and few would pay that when so many other options exist. I chuckled since a couple shops in my state carry Pinarello and one I was in 4 months ago, but had 0 Pins.
- Why do you want to swap the wheels when you havent even ridden the bike? They arent the lightest things around, but its a $5700 bike...it should come with really good wheels. If it doesnt, I would think that would be a flashing warning.

https://www.canyon.com/en-us/road-bi...rahmenfarbe=GN
$5000. Comes with a power meter, quality carbon wheelset(thats a few hundred g lighter), beloved comfortable carbon seatpost, carbon stem and bars, and Ultegra di2. Maybe the best part- it doesnt have a goofy internal headset headtube routing.

Meanwhile, for $700 more, the Pinarello does not have a powermeter, the wheelset weighs a few hundred g more, it comes with an aluminum stem, and an aluminum bar.
But you get the name thats still riding on the success and legend of decades ago, so thats cool.

I think the only reason for the wavy design is for looks no? Or, is Pina touting a performance advantage to them? (edit: Apparently Pina touts the "asymmetrical frame" as a performance advantage, but I just assumed this was written by the marketing department
Either way, regarding the aesthetic aspect, the Canyon would be the exact opposite it seems to me.
i.e., it looks like one of a billion other bikes out there. Not that there's anything wrong with that; the Pina is just more pleasing to my eye.

What's the hate on integrated headsets? (it's not your post I'm referring to, but I've seen other people hating on them online as well). Is it the practicality of having to do work on the bike? In my case, I have never taken mine apart and haven't adjusted the position in years. Is there another reason they would be undesirable (aesthetics aside).
In the Canyon, the cables are almost purposefully intrusive. In my Domane, they are tucked into these clips that make it look a lot better.

That all being said, it's more and more likely that I'll be going with a Cervelo (or Canyon) at this point. Again, if practicality/performance is the motivation, there are much much cheaper/better deals on bikes out there. I'm just looking for something other than just that.

Pretty much that and that you can't change to a different stem.
