Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As we approach summer, and have already hit 97F this month, I'm wondering if the mesh type base layers will help with cooling. I've asked around here, but the guys I know have not even thought of trying it, so I have no good local opinions.
I've heard guys recommend using a base layer when it's hot but I can't stand it. If I'm wearing one and the temp goes up I will take it off. Same thing at work, people have said they wear a tee shirt under their work shirt in the heat but I find it to be suffocating. I sweat profusely and get teased about it sometimes and if I have extra layers on they get soaked.

Our shop's Summer schedule is 7 days a week. We started that schedule at the beginning of May this year.

I still have a tough time understanding the difference between a latte and a cappuccino.

edit: I believe latte has more milk but not sure where you draw the distinction between a light cappuccino and a dark latte.

Ratio of espresso to milk and the extent to which the milk is frothed. The capp will have less milk, but will have more foam. The latte can be a *lot* of milk, often more than 75%, but only has a thin layer of foam.

Latte has milk and foam. Cappuccino has ONLY foam.

EDIT: I learned this from the woman who won the Cappuccino competition at the San Francisco City Fair. Used to run a cafe in The Richmond when we lived there.

If they are any good they don’t need rehearsals. It’s just counting, after all.

I have not used a base layer in the heat. My favorite jersey is a very loose 3/4 sleeve affair, but that one is rapidly wearing out. Lately I've been wearing a dayglo green soccer t-shirt and arm coverings.

Either they do those drinks differently in San Francisco than anywhere else, or something was lost in translation. The classic capp ratio is often cited as being 1:1:1, espresso, milk and foam.

There's obviously a good Hoffmann video on the differences among various espresso drinks -

These people need it. They're always trying to figure out who's supposed to be playing what. What a mess.

Not a lot of that control with induction. But I can cook a pot of rice in about ten minutes. The timer on it is a wonderful thing.
