Blue Sky Cycling

We do a lot of on-line buying of parts for our volunteer charity bike shop and started using this vendor a few months ago, Blue Sky Cycling. https://blueskycycling.com/

The fist few orders were small and for a particular part and they were handled fine, shipped timely, etc. So we decided to place a larger order from them for a few of their close-out item that we regularly use, and seemed of good value, order was for 4 lots of tires, kickstands and cable locks. We are not sure why, but 12 days following placement (and paying immediately), they abruptly canceled the order and said they were refunding our money. They provided no real explanation other then his "buyer" could not fulfill the order. I could understand if one item was an issue but all 6,

The strange thing is if I go back on their website, I can still find all 6 items available and with more then enough quantity of the item to fil our order 10x+.

Have any of you used this on-line vendor and experienced the same issue?

I have used them maybe twice a few years ago and no issues but this is something I would recommend using the phone to call them. With so many supply chain issues going on it could be something legit but hard to say and I wouldn't even want to speculate. At least they refunded your money rather than leave you hanging.

I bought one item about 2 years ago... no problem. I still get email from them. I think their website might be better than their actual inventory... and the physical building as well. Their address is 2530 Randolph St. Huntington Park, CA.

There are many examples of online inventory claims being wrong. Or maybe better to say that updating websites is not the highest priority for many companies. I'll also add that managing a correct inventory count is harder than most would think.

That Blue Sky was so proactive to refund your $ speaks well to their intentions, IMO. Andy

Maybe they just have a larger company like QBC fill their orders.
During covid times maybe QBC (or?) has inadequate inventory.

I've had Amazon vendors that apparently ordered from other Amazon vendors for their inventory.
A few years back I had trouble buying a "good" cell battery.
I ordered from 2 different vendors hoping one might have a good one.
The cheaper one came promptly.
The more expensive one took another week, which is absurd, since we were both pretty much on I-5.
The both had the same lot#.

I've used Blue Sky a couple of times for sale items. Last order shipped 2 front QR skewers where I order a F/R pair. Notified BlueSky and they made it right posthaste. They ate the shipping cost and gave me the extra front skewer. Gaffes happen, no harm no foul for me.

Thank you all for the replies and information, we sent them another query on this to find out the real issue.

Well we never heard back from them on the query but decided to try them again.

Placed an order of several closeout items, waited a week, again no notice of shipment, sent them an email.

Long story short, they now wanted an extra $65 to ship the order claiming that it was too heavy. It was their system that calculated the initial shipping charge that we agreed to when placing the order. Adding that $65 would have added another 25% to the cost of each part. making them no bargain.

Told them to cancel the order and refund my money, this has been a total waste of our time.

We will not be using them anymore.

I would not use them again either after all that. You gave them a second chance and they blew it big time.

Right here:

Those Huntington Park, Bell Gardens, Commerce CA. addresses are always used by those Chinese importers that take your domestic order, and ship it from China. That's why it always takes forever for tracking number to register any movement.

I've used a few times over the years (pre-covid) and they delivered as ordered so they're definitely not a sham business.

Same, I've probably ordered 8 - 10 times from them and never had any problems
