My co-worker says his bike has, "Bad Mo-Jo". He crashed on it and broke a bone. He thinks the bike is cursed and he wouldn't ride it anymore! . What can I say to him to make him believe that the bike isn't cursed?

If he really thinks the bike made him crash and not his actions/inactions, he'll crash again. I mean it. The first step to staying off the ground is to be brutally honest about how you got there; then make the necessary adjustment in skills and practices.

I doubt it is about the bike, but rather about the crash. It can be tough to jump back up and continue after a traumatic event.

What are the crash details? Solo crash? Traffic Crash? MTB Crash? Too Fast Crash?

It may be the answer would be to find a "Safe" place to ride. Local off street bike paths?

The most reliable way to tell whether an object is Cursed is to look at it. If the object exists, it is not Cursed since there is no such thing as a Curse in real life.

This is the answer, but from the word "mojo" the right version I think is going to involve some chicken bones and smoldering sage.

Just be glad it's not the kind of curse handed out by greco-roman deities, which tend to be permanent, fatal, and ironic

I don't think there is anything that can be done apart from donating the bike to a co-op (passing the curse onto someone else) and buying a new bike.

He crashed on the way home the other day. The way he told me is was speeding through a turn and crashed. He blames the bike because "He has super bike handing skills". (No really, that's what he said. I could add to that but I wouldn't.) He did something with Sage and Chicken bones after work to get rid of the curse. or Bad-Joe. If it doesn't go away by next week, he'll sell the bike. I wouldn't say what I think.

I'm curious to know how he will know if the curse has been lifted unless he starts riding the bike again.

Speeding through a turn and thinking you have super bike handling skills is a curse.

One could always curse the gravel on the curve... or curse the log truck that left the mud and gravel in your path.

Right now, he hasn't ride any bike since the crash. (Kind of hard with a broken arm but it can be done.) In the back of my mind, I hope he sells me the bike. I could use a fast/ light bike for commuting. Couldn't you? At church, (tomorrow) I'll pray for him. Dum a... racer type. He thinks he was doing 25mph+ through the Pearl Street Mall area. Kind of dum if you ask me. Ok, have anyone on this list done anything that wasn't too smart to do on the bike?

I wouldn't push anybody to ride while he is still busted up. Perhaps get him a tadpole trike.

As far as the bike, it could have a real structural fault impacting the ride or the cornering. Parts can wear, or become misaligned.

Most people who ride have made a poor choice or two. Those who haven't either aren't riding, or aren't fessing up.

I had one after my heart surgery. Harshest riding vehicle of any kind I've ever owned! Seat stays go straight to the shoulder blades. Not exactly power steering either. For the sternotomy it was not ideal. Probably not for a broken arm either. Benefitted greatly from a fat rear tire run at volleyball pressure.

But at least it wasn't cursed, I guess

My fellow co-worker wouldn't be riding anytime soon because of his broken arm. He'll know when the curse is lifted by "The type of vibes the bike gives off". (He really thinks that.) I'll played with his head.I said, " If you let the local bike shop preform a rite of purification you might get rid of the bad Mo-Jo. That is if the full Moon is out and he rides up Mt. Evans in his Tidy Whites. (Gotta to play with his head, right?) Any other idea that I left out?

didn't Superman fly around the Earth counter-clock wise to undo something? maybe your friend can ride his bike backwards to undo the curse?

It's possible to learn to ride a bike backwards, but not without falling off again. Likely many times

Riveting

Long crank arms and wide width pedals will trump bike handling skills every time, IF you insist on pedaling through a fast turn. I'm no acolyte, but it might be time to swap out those cursed cranks and pedals.
