I'm waiting for the letter to schedule my PET scan. Just waiting for the letter is stressing me out. Hope it comes before my next oncology appointment.

Well, went for my results to see if I am clear from cancer. I have an hours drive each way to the hospital, 30 min to find a parking space (charged), then an hour and 3/4 wait in which time the complete waiting room empties and refills, twice. My wife wanted to be with me, even though she has real difficulty's with social settings like this, and we had to leave. I left telling the reception to arrange a telephone consultation. Driving away and phone rings, oh we are ready for you now….aaagh….sorry just organise a phone consultation please…..then tells me she does not work on a Wednesday. Ok someone else then or I will wait….she got real defensive then….really, just tell me, I know the system is failing, just book me in two hours later than the time you gave me….what a day, and it is the first day of a weeks holiday (had to use holidays up before xmas otherwise you lose them!). Let us see what tmw brings….nighty night all.

Well, looks like the treatment has worked. Got an all clear on Tuesday. Will have to go for follow up CT scan in 3 months, and thereafter for the next five years on decreasing appointments. It’s not over until the fat lady sings they say.
I should feel ecstatic, but I feel kind of shocked. When you are in a bad situation you get on with it, no time to think, just do. You find yourself doubting, maybe they made a mistake, ah, I shook that off, don’t spend your years thinking that! It does feel like an anti-climax, like being made redundant from a job.
If you are in the fight, keep going, it's tough but you have to go for it. It is the ones you love around you who have a tougher time, and my wife has been my rock, and that is something I will always be grateful to her for being her.
Below is a link to a programme about head and neck cancer by a Welsh comedian who had exactly my condition, but he has a better way of expressing what it means. If you find yourself ill, I think it can help. If your condition is not going to improve, then I can only pass my heart felt feelings to you and your family and we will meet sometime on a dusty (car free) road.
“The comedian Rhod Gilbert was diagnosed with a little known form of head and neck cancer. This is the story of his intimate, inspiring and humorous journey through treatment”.

i got my scan back to day and the last line states "consistant with a near complete metabolic response".
I looked it up and got "Complete response doesn't necessarily mean that you are cured, but it is the best result that can be reported. It means the cancerous tumor is now gone and there is no evidence of disease"
seeing doctor tomorrow for confirmation
Best wishes to everyone, and thanks for all the support

Oh that is good news (understatement). One problem. Now nothing in your life will seem quite so serious. Enjoy this feeling for the rest of your life. Good on yer.
