My 1978 Super Grand Prix has 73 on the lugs but the 1978 catalog states it should be 74 degrees

No, check that, with vintage Raleighs, you'll need this much.

I have what I believe to be a 1972 Raleigh Competition (serial number begins with G, which St Sheldon says is nominally '72), with Nervex Pro lugs, sloping fork crown, black with gold lettering. Frame tubes 531 plus triangular 531 decals on the fork blades.

Mine is a '73 (based on H316 serial number) with same set up. I am assuming mine was a very early '73.
