Early 2000s Kuwahara's Made in Vietnam

See subject. I got two for free. Aluminum frames, the 16" is for my daughter. Identical bikes. I am thinking of using the 20" as a parts bike for an old Norco Cherokee I have from the early 90s (taking the aluminum rims and swapping out the steel ones on the Norco), and using the seat and pedals for a 2005 Trek 6700 I was given for free that needs only these two items to be road worthy. However, I just to the old Kuwahara out for a 30 minute run, and she rides nice. I know these are probably not in the league of the older Kuwahara's - and it's not steel. Anyone know anything about the quality of the later Kuwahara's made in Vietnam, using Shimano Malaysia components? Mine's a 2003.

Thanks in advance.

They sound like average decent bike-store Taiwanese bikes. I think Kuwahara made a lot of frames for other brands. What level components?
