Here's the best I have on hand — not directly over the handlebars but it'll have to do for now. Taken July 2014 east of Canmore AB. 2001 Giant rigid MTB.

A Brief Respite From Winter

It's a beautiful February morning, here in Minnesota. Outside temperature is a balmy 36°F, heading for a high of around 57°. So I took ye olde Roadster out this morning; my `71 Raleigh DL-1. Rode over to the local pond and shot this:

Now I can contribute! Both of these from Saturday rides.

Heading to the grocery store:

Heading to the LBS using the gravel section of a road widening project, on my recently completed (resurrected) gravel grinder bike:

Replaced the original handlebar with a flatbar to lower my position, Ergon grips with bar-ends compatible with the Sram Gripshifts light and a bell.

And a 'hybrid' mirror (Cateye mirror, Busch&Muller mount, I made the mistake to order the small B&M mirror)

The big one in center frame is Mt. San Gorgonio. This is taken in Redlands-- so if you had ever ventured to Big Bear or any of the local ski resorts, or had to spend any time at Twenty Nine Palms, you drove right through here.

I need to take a trip to California. That's a pretty nice looking path and the weather is gorgeous. I keep forgetting to take a photo. It was 70 here in PA today. Just got out of the after-ride shower.

That explains it. I used to race mountain bikes at Big Bear, and I spent a couple unhappy detachments at 29 Palms. I cannot believe that was 30 years ago!

Now that's something you don't see everyday. After reading this post, I had to look up "velomobile" to see what it is. Wow! I've never seen one on a bike path, let alone on the street. What kind of treatment (respect or disdain) do you get from other cyclists? Do you ride that on the streets as well?

I do ride it on the street almost exclusively, it really a bit too fast for a crowded MUP.
Lots of people are interested in it because they are so rare (strange). Many ask me if it has a motor in it and when they find out it doesn't, suggest I should install one.

There are a couple of guys on a FB group I'm in that have velomobiles, and they have quite a few incidents with law enforcement. One guy I know of has been pulled over something like 40 times in his velomobile because they all think it has a motor and want to know why it doesn't have a license plate.

If you're in an area where the cops don't respect cyclists much, you'll likely have a LOT of problems in a velomobile.

Aw, that is so darned cool! I have a dog who would absolutely love that! I imagine those are quite expensive, though. Thank you for giving me something else to discover in cycling. I believe a feasibility study is in order...
