Kawasaki KMB 450

I saw this bike on CL shortly after it got posted. Got it from the original owner who got it in the early 90’s when he purchased a motorcycle. I don’t know much about the bike but it sure looks decent. Anyone know much about these?

Sorry I couldn’t get the pictures to work, it’s been a while

I pulled this from a different forum's post
Looks to a middle offering at the time, good frame, middling parts. Not bad, suspension forks of the time, not so great. I think I read it being almost $700 which is pretty high for for this time and the parts offered.

The ones I've seen have had Tange MTB plain gauge tubesets and Shimano STX components, which would place them upper entry level (some might consider them low mid-range due to the suspension fork) and no earlier than 1994, though there could have been some year to year variation. One had a nice touch of Ritchey dropouts. The serial number may allow us to determine the actual year and manufacturer.

thank you guys, I’ll figure out the pictures thing, I used to use photo bucket but that got weird.

the bike looks like the first one posted, it does have stx components and Araya rims. I’ll get the serial number soon to hopefully help with the exact year. I was drawn to this bike as I’m also into motorcycles, most bikes I had seen labeled Kawasaki minus the 70’s BMX stuff was nice quite this nice

Here it is, I added the Jack Rabbit tires and lightly cleaned the bike a bit, seat and grips are not original as well as the 7 speed shifter side was replaced. The bike rides great, it’ll be fun to have around

I didn't know Kawasaki made bicycles. But that sure is their signature green color!

Kawasaki got into the bicycle market in the mid-1970s, when the BMX craze took off. It took me a while to go through my archives and find it, but I believe this is the advertisement for the first Kawasaki bicycle. Note the April 1976 date in the bottom right hand corner.

Well, not really. First, it's not full suspension. Those are faux suspension forks. The team issue version even used faux shocks on the rear, but the shocks were functional on the consumer model. Second, Yamaha beat them to punch, having an actual full suspension BMX, the Moto-Bike, even before Kawasaki entered the BMX market. I'm not sure if it was the first full suspension BMX or not. I never followed BMX closely. What I know about BMX is primarily from the from the bicycling magazines that I read, back in the day.
