Are in person auctions disappearing rapidly?

I remember going to the livestock auctions as a kid. Sitting in the back of the bleachers, it is like one was surrounded by a layer of fog from smoke. Then they went non-smoking!!!

Then there were the farm auctions where one would follow the auctioneer from lot to lot.

Since COVID, Oregon, Washington, and California may have made 100% of the farm actions, estate auctions, and small business auctions 100% online. I don't know about the livestock auctions.

Copart, IAAI, and insurance auctions are also 100% online.

I suppose I haven't followed the evolution towards going online. Perhaps it is a longterm thing that has been happening for a while.

Yet, I fear that the auctioneers and the fast talking stutter may well be a dying breed.

Haven't been to a live auction in a long time. I think around here they want to come pick up your crap that's worth selling in their opinion and take it to the auction house for the weekly show. They'll be around as long as there's a buck to be made, IMO.
What I know for sure is the livestock sale barn up at the County Seat had breakfast to die for every Saturday morning. But it's been torn down for some years now.

I know in Florida they have a govn't auction every month or so. You have to pay a fee to sign up and then can blind bid on vehicles in inventory. There is a time period inbetween that you have to go look at the vehicle in person, but the bidding process takes place online much like an eBay auction.

Here in GA all of the major car and equipment auction houses closed within the last couple of years. About the only ones I know you can show up to in person any more is if you are lucky enough to be on the inform list for local tow yards.

Livestock auction happens every week about 15 miles down the road.
