Here is a local brewery from Houston. Smooth made by Karbach Brewing Company. You can drink a 6er in no time the beer is that smooth The official Houston Astros ballpark beer. They sell it at concerts in Austin. Anyways show off your favorite local beers nothing better to do? LoL.

Like imperial stouts especially if bourbon barrel aged.

Just had a great stout the other day... From Stone Brewing in San Diego. Stone Woot Stout... Bourbon barrel aged, made with pecans, wheat and rye... 11.5 ABV and quite smooth... definitely for sipping on a cold winter day in front of an open fire.

I’m in Victoria, British Columbia and we’ve got quite a vibrant beer scene. By coincidence I’ve just ridden out to a local brewpub for a late lunch, now I’m finishing up with a delicious imperial stout (10.3%) ABV

Im going to ride by another brewery that just opened a lounge & I’ll fuel up for the ride home. I’m fortunate enough to be able to get to these via bike paths with almost no riding on the streets

First time, I only tried it because it was free (work event with open bar with local taps). I didn't expect to like it. I like peanut butter, and lots of peanut things (Thai peanut sauce, Kung Pao chicken), but for some reason not peanut butter cookies.

But this is like a liquid, alcoholic Nutty Bar. Can't get enough!

This beer is what boosted the sale price of Ballast Point to $1B, and now it's available nationwide (probably worldwide).

I've had it fresh on tap at the tasting room that my wife & I can easily ride our bikes to. I've also had fresh on tap the Habanero and Grapefruit versions. Loved 'em both, especially the Hab.

OK, I'm moving.

Actually a brew pub just opened up a couple months ago, about a mile away from me... as soon as they get the recipes worked out, I might find myself there on a somewhat regular basis... (where everybody knows your name... ) Right now the beer comes out too flat and the flavors are a bit off and somewhat random. Either they will fix it or get a new brew master... it was too large an investment for this space (old converted barn with lots of cool decor) to go under.

Someone just posted "Modern Times" up above... I remember going in there when they first opened... with a couple brew kettles in the back... in this huge warehouse in San Diego... beer was OK... nothing to write home about. They grew. Last time I was there, (pre-covid) it was standing room only, and they had giant tanks in the back... what a transformation. And the beer is good too.

Some times it takes a bit to get it just right.

There are craft breweries all over San Diego County, but SR-78 that runs East/West through North County, has been nicknamed "Hop Highway".

MT is a collaboration between a business guy, and brewing wizard Mike Tonsmeire aka the Mad Fermentationist. Tonsmeire wasn't interested in co-founding the brewery, so he moved out to I think D.C. but still provided creative support in terms of innovative brew recipes.

One of these days (maybe even today? I'm not sure), most of 78 should be accessible by bike using a MUP adjacent to the train route. SR-78 is like a 20min drive from my house though, I don't ever bike up that way.

BTW Stone is considered part of the Hop Highway.

Correction, I was confused (just thinking about all these great local beers is making me tipsy!) The .394 is just a Pale Ale. It's OK, but Nut Brown is my favorite Alesmith:

Part of what made me think of the .394 though is the can design. The .394 uses throwback Padres colors, like that can in the OP is Astros

Yeah, in fact the brew pub I was at for lunch had a pretty shaky start with uneven quality and some beers that frankly tasted like poorly made home brews. It took them some time to really get it together but they are producing excellent beers now.

I recall they brought in a new brewer and a consultant to address their quality control issues, it certainly paid off

I don’t generally see Alesmith beers in my market, but back in something like 2007 (?) I was at a conference in San Diego and made a pilgrimage out to the brewery. I just showed up with a colleague but the brew crew were happy to give us a personalized tour and poured us numerous samples… I was very impressed with the whole thing though I was a bit shocked at how high gravity most of the beers were!

I have enjoyed many of Stone Brewing offerings and also love visiting the Stone Beer Garden. The Woot's are fantastic.
