I'm going to jump in on this this year. 2021 had a total of 3696.3. Living in Dayton ohio the snow is unpredictable. All miles are outdoors so as long as there isn't anything slick on the road I'll be getting some miles.

Ytd 74 milesJanuary goal 300

Last night was 8F, but tonight was about 30 degrees warmer so I managed to ride. First mile on the MUP was good, but the next mile was unrideable due to ice and snow. I walked a mile, then rode on the street to the next town and picked up the path there. Turns out of the five towns the path runs through, mine is the only one that doesn't clear snow. One even salted, which was a nice touch but the loose salt made corners treacherous. I'm going to call the DPW tomorrow and see if I can get them to plow, and if not, I'll have a chat with the chairman of the Board of Selectmen. Hope to get at least one more ride in before frigid weather returns on Saturday, then another storm on Sunday.

I did find this awesome little flashlight on the path tonight. I figured it was one of those cheap ones that you can buy anywhere, but this thing goes for $70.

Would have had a couple more miles, but I was having so much fun going fast on the Tarmac that I took a corner fast, banking so hard the sidewall of my rear tire took on a shard of broken glass in the street (and lost). Got it back on the road, but the tire was too far gone to do more than limp to my destination and beg a ride home from a friend. Glad I have two wheelsets for this bike, because I want to ride it to work again tomorrow. Still waiting for replacement brake cables for the commuter bike, so I'm having fun riding other bikes to work. Probably not going to use the mountain bike for this, though the dropper post would be fun to play with at stoplights.

Well I'm new too...and I'll post some numbers for those of us who AREN'T superhuman.....man some of you guys ride a LOT. I just don't have the conditioning or the interest to go those distances and times. I admit though, I'm getting better.

I ran a grand total of 246k last year (since May). I missed a lot of days being busy, avoiding forest fire smoke or other weather. I'm also in the 55+ category and I'm riding to get back in some shape other than round.

All excuses aside, I've already made 70k this year and I hope to do over a thousand for the year. I'm also trying to get past the 150 minutes of exercise a week mark.

Keep it up everyone!

I was feeling so smug about being prepared for a destroyed tire on a bike I don't ride much and went out to ride it today, only to discover the second rear wheel was flat, too. So I opted to ride the Aethos to work, and it made quick work of that commute. And now that the all the parts for the commuter bike brake rehab have arrived, I've got lots of bike maintenance to do this weekend. There are worse problems to have.

Got so fired up last night after fixing up (almost) all the bikes, I got up early and headed out. Should have checked the weather. It said "Drizzle," and that's about what it was, but I could have been dressed a little better for it. Didn't really feel cold until the last 5 miles home, but now I've got some serious bike cleaning to do. Maybe later.

Earlier this week, I rode my bike to physical therapy, and the therapist-in-training was asking me about bike attire, as he was wrenching my shoulder around. "What are those 3 pockets on the back of the jerseys for?" I said, "Well, my wallet goes in one, my phone in another, and my keys in the other one." He replied "Oh, I thought they were special-purpose pockets, like to put weights in like some runners do." I told him most of us Clydesdale types already have that extra weight around the middle and don't need to add to it. Kids these days....

Thanks.

I had a string of 338 days straight riding from from mid-March 2020 through mid-February 2021. I'd like to ride every day this year, but realistically, it probably won't happen. My longest ride ever was in July 2020 at 125 miles. I'd like to do a 200 mile ride this year, but I'm not sure that will happen either. Consistency is the key, even if you don't ride daily. If you're consistent, you definitely get stronger.
