Politeness cameras downtown Seattle
FYI. Eight cameras are being installed around downtown and Beltown Seattle in a pilot program, they will issue tickets to drivers who use transit lanes or block intersections.
Here is the announcement from SDOT: https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2021/11...affic-cameras/
Here is an example of behavior that will be ticketed automatically every time:
Here are the location of the 8 cameras:
Again, this is a pilot program, which means more are likely in the future.
As a cyclist and a pedestrian, as well as a driver, I think the one on Westlake is going to save lives. Drivers will hit you going right on red of you try to use the crosswalk when it's your turn there.

That looks really interesting - thanks for posting. I don't ride downtown, but I'm in the area frequently for work and I've witnessed problems at all those locations. I think you'll see a lot of pissed people when those tickets start piling up. Are they adding signage to alert drivers to the new cameras?

If there aren't already enough reasons why to avoid going into the downtown Seattle area, here's another reason to avoid driving or riding a bicycle in downtown Seattle.

It's amazing the privacy we willingly give up for some fake Twitter or Facebook fame but then will scream about "muh rights" if anyone wants to go automated speeding or redlight cameras or speed limiters in cars.
A solution like this is so logical.
-Max 70mph limiter in all vehicles
-In higher density areas auto max speed adjustments via gps/signals
-Speeding cameras
-Redlight cameras
-No more prayerful judgements or reduced infractions, no negotiations
