Hwy 20 blocked at Newhalem (rock fall)
Sigh. Third time it's been closed this year, first due to winter as normal, then for fire activity, and now this. Moral of the story is seize the day. 🙂
The smart money says this won't reopen immediately. They need to clear the road, probably address damage to the roadway, and assess stability of the cliff above to make sure another one doesn't come down tomorrow. On the other hand 20 gets a lot of use this time of year. There are a lot of hikers who are going to find out they have a very long drive home tonight. 😳 ☹️

Update. Not sure if I missed this (probably) or it just happened? DOT says the road is open, one lane with a flagger.
