Miyata 710 and 610 values please.
Good Day All. I need your expert opinions. I have two 1984 (M) Miyata bicycles I purchased new many years ago in 1984, and they are both in extremely good condition, other than needing full maintenance and new tires since they have not been ridden in 30 years. Always kept indoors. Now that I have decided to sell them, I would like to get your opinions on their value. One is a Miyata 710 (Serial number M598008) in a Sandstone color, and the other is a Miyata 610 (Serial number begins with an M, but the rest is covered by a cable guide) in a brown metallic color. The 710 is all original, and the only thing not original on the 610 is the handlebar wrap. Thank you very much for your responses. Ride safely.

I am sure others will chime in and I'm no Miyata expert. I will say that touring bikes are sought after ,so the 610 might have more value.
but couple hundreds bucks each I'm guessing...PS any rust or dents would be less. PS. I picked up a rather minty , original Schwinn Voyageur , made in Japan , Columbus tubed , for $350 recently . It almost looks unused . I don't know if it is a comparison to the Miyata 610 . Remember this is only an opinion, you know what they say about opinions...

I think your 710 is an 84, but the 610 is an early model 85, based on the color and the fact it has a cable guide covering the SN. Another sign to confirm it's an 85 would be if it has mid fork braze-ons for lowrider racks. What sizes are they?

Your location, method to sell, and ability to market your bikes all matter. It’s not like you can drop them off somewhere and someone hands out money. While people here will mention fair market value it can be a lot of work to get it.
In the end, most bikes sell for less than fair market value. Rust is a value killer. Condition is everything.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

Hello Squarenoise and thank you for your response. I just went upstairs to check, and the metallic brown 610 touring bike has the front fork brake ons which have never been used. Again, the beginning “M” of the serial number shows on this bike. I measured both the 610 and 710, and they are 23” or about 58.5cm.

Hello wrk101 and thank you for your reply. There is a large bicycle shop near me that I can drop these rust free bikes off and they will pay me for them. But before I do so, since these are in practically factory new condition, I am attempting to determine a fair price.

I will not sale a Miyata 610 under 400, maybe 450. I sold one on-line, but I don't remember the price, somewhere around 490$ plus shipping.
I sold also this year, locally, two 710 for 270 and 290$. Not mint but pretty nice.

I agree with marius.suiram on the $400-$450 range for the 610, if you were selling it directly to a buyer, not bike shop.
But also agree with wrk101 that location/market play a factor as well. The market here in Tucson is wacky so sometimes you have to be patient for the right buyer to come along.

Everything is relative to the buyer. Does the buyer place a priority on original almost unused bike and mint frame etc, or is his priority buying a bike that doesn't need money in service repairs. Example, take apart clean, repack all bearings, tires, handlebar tape etc. . I just paid 350 for an almost unused Schwinn Voyageur touring bike ,not sure year , Columbus tubed all original, frame mint..

Here are some comparable bikes, FOR SALE in my area (have not sold yet, and have been on the market for a while).
1. Schwinn Tempo, I would consider it pretty comparable to the 710. $100
