Artist's impression of a bike
A couple of weeks ago I walked into my GP's office for my COVID vaccination, and noticed this painting on the wall:
I studied it for a bit while waiting for my shot, asking myself: would I have ...? Probably not.

But probably the least of the problems on that one. I’m gonna guess painting from a photograph without an actual bicycle present for reference.
Edit: oh, Non-Fixie I now realize. Double negative points for a Dutch painting (you know, Dutch Masters, bicycles everywhere...)

I've seen several paintings where the chainwheel was on the left side of the bike and the rear sprocket on the right side, with the chain somehow passing through the spokes. I saw three like that hanging in one store at the same time. And one on the wall at a Panera. Things they don't teach you in art school, I guess.

While generally not to my taste, he had his moments, like his found object sculpture of a bull's head, fabricated from a leather bicycle saddle and handlebars. It's very simple, something that anybody could do, but only he had the vision.

iab "dumbest" is normally--- also in the eye of the beholder (similar to beauty and art). However, I agree with you about art not needing "to be an accurate description of anything."

While technically Todd McLellan is a photographer, his book 'Things Come Apart' is a very artistic take on the classic exploded diagram. I have his bicycle print hanging on my wall at home.

I took this picture - it had to be back in the 80's. (Scanned from a physical paper photo!) It is part of the sign that this tiny "Tony's Bike Shop" had. They went out of business and the hand-painted sign was lying against the building. This was in Holbrook, NY on Long Island.
