Frame Scratch

My frame got scratched. I'm not sure how it happened to be honest because I'm super careful. I don't see it from far but a bit close and it's obvious. Let it be? Or are there easy fixes?

That bike is done for. Time to recycle and replace.

Ok, personally I'd just ignore that. Otherwise I'd try the least aggressive remedy and go from there. Car Wax? Clear Coat?

Most of those scratches could probably be polished out with some automotive paint scratch remover. The tiny black bit of course will still show but might not bother you too much with the rest buffed out.

Thanks. As I've had time it's not really bothering me much. I'll think about polish. What I don't understand is what kind of surface/ movement produces these random shapes with different orientations ... I find it odd... I must've been doing something totally weird

Could be anything. Could be from leaning the bike on a pole and it moved around. Doesn't matter much at this point though. Interrogate your houseguests and pets as possible suspects.

If you ride and or work on your bike, it is going to get scratched. There is nothing weird about not knowing what caused a scratch. The good thing is you no longer have to worry about the first scratch.

auto polish paste and it'll likely disapear. Then a quick wax and it'll look new

That bike is dangerous to ride. Send the frame to me for proper disposal.

I always wanted to say this and mean it: "That'll buff right out!"

looks to me like you parked your bike against something scratchy (concrete or brickwork, for example) and the bike shifted slightly. You might not even have noticed it happening

I wouldn't even try to polish it out. All you'll do is wear off more of the surface finish around them. And if that's clear coat, then you'll have a larger area of finish mismatch.

I might just clean it good, maybe with a soft toothbrush and see what it looks like afterward. Maybe dab a little color or clear coat on it if it looks like the layers might peel. I don't think that looks like the layers will peel though.

Agreed.

I'd just leave it.
