Stoker Bottle Rack Options

Our new Java has many bottle rack mounts, but the stoker finds it difficult to reach them. Let us see your easy-to-reach stoker bottle mount options. Thanks!

For reference, here's our new Java:

There are seat rail mounted bottle holders and handlebar mounted bottle holders.

Our bike has 7 braze-ons for cages and the center one has a doubler. The only one the stoker finds convenient is the same as yours. My guess is that your top tube is close to the the top of the bottle, so if you had a cage that would allow a more angled extraction, it would be easier for the stoker.

Somewhere in the UP. There were other types of "bikers", we were all Bro's.

We will likely go with a seat rail mount, but there's not a lot of room between captain's saddle and stoker's bars, thoughts?

Edit/adding info: This is the mount we're thinking about: https://www.topeak.com/global/en/pro...I-BACKUP-ELITE And I have a B-RAD in the tool box from another project that may be needed to adjust the height of the mount.

Love that bike! We are planning to gear up on Java to be a vacation/adventure tandem too.

Will it work on the stokers seat post. Another option you may have already considered is a water pack. I use a 100oz Camelbak military version that has insulation oven on the tube. There is also 85oz Hi Viz that is insulated. There are also lighter weight versions with 50oz.

As mentioned above the seat tube location is a pretty good spot for the bottle but can experience interference with the top tube. This cage is a good option with side entry. https://ride.lezyne.com/products/flo...enhanced-black
It even has some great color options :-)

We have a similar co-mo frame (no middle down tube) and my stoker also finds it very difficult to reach a bottle. Our solution: I play 2 roles: captain and water boy. I fetch and pass, and receive and replace the bottle on the seat post cage. After doing so for a while I can now do so while pedaling.

its a solution that works for us.

We do the same. I am captain and water boy. This way she remembers to drink when I do so she won't get dehydrated.

The only time she reaches for her bottles is when we swap bottles if I run out of water in the front.

If it had a straw, he wouldn't even need to pull it out. I did this for my 10 year-old son who was having difficulty reaching down so far.

Twofish makes a quick block that lets you add a bottle cage most anywhere on the frame. Link
We also use Specialized side-entry bottle cages as the diagonal crossbar on our Cdale limits the space you have to get the bottles in and out.

You can try one of these: https://t-cycle.com/products/adjustomatic-bottle-mount
Use the two fish or similar to mount in place.

Twofish Makes 24oz, 40oz, and 64oz Velcro attached water bottle cages. They also make a 3 bolt quick cage adaptor.

UPDATE: We picked up the parts today ... https://www.topeak.com/global/en/pro...I-BACKUP-ELITE And a B-RAD I had in the toolbox.

This is an easy to grab bottle for the stoker.

Final parts arrived, here's the stoker's easy to reach bottle. Big test on Saturday, 50 miles of gravel and Amish-maintained roads on The Filthy 50. We're looking for a podium place (there's only three tandem teams riding)

Thanks for posting your final set up. We just placed an order for a CoMo Primera, and the stoker reaching the bottles has been a concern of mine!
