Mine is from 1964, give or take. I actually confirmed the build date with the bicycle museum on Bainbridge Island in Washington. I imagine you are familiar with their site. They were selling the exact same bike (no better than mine) for $1,250 back in 2013.

My bike is about 24 pounds. Probably Columbus straight gauge tubes. It is 22 inches from crank to top of seat tube. 22 inches center to center top tube. Wheelbase 41 inches. Stand over height about 31 inches.

As I mentioned I did a "sympathetic restoration". Stripped it down totally. Everything. Retained everything I could. The cables are new, as are the brake hoods. Lousy blue bar wrap also. Don't know what I was thinking there. The pedals are Japanese....not original but period looks correct. The original seat would have been leather. I have put on my leather-wrapped plastic Uncanitor, made in Italy. Bought that in 1973 for my Raleigh. It goes with the Bianchi. Seat post is an aluminum fluted Japanese upgrade. Wheels are 27 inch clinchers, not 700c, which is what the Bianchi would have come with. Someone upgraded the hubs to aluminum Normandy (dated 1980). New tubes and the old tires hold air. I upgraded the rear derailleur to a Nuovo Gran Sport. Actually quite nice. Crankset is Nervar with aluminum chainwheels as came with the bike.

I've touched-up the paint. But in no way is this a pristine barn find!

So the museum was peddling theirs for $1,250 (doubt they got that but who knows?). I've seen complete Gran Premios listed for up to $700 on Craigslist in worse shape than mine. Folks seem to ask $100 to $300 for just the frameset. Frankly I find these prices ludicrous. I paid $200 in 2012, and probably spent $100 on the parts/upgrades. Also I easily spent 20 hours on the bike. Which is worth nothing LOL.

But at the end of the day I think this is really just a nice old bike. It is not a Specialissima. And it isn't a Gitane Tour de France. I would be happy if I got $300.
