Your Ride Reports - March 2022

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your Ride Reports - March 2022

If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, we welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, we welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Are you an experienced road cyclist? Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? Do you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Touring? Audax/Randonneuring?
Or are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid?

There are no set challenges - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group.

Just pick the target that you would like to achieve this month and post updates throughout the month as you work toward your target. We love seeing photos of your rides and hearing all about them.

Given the current situation many of us will be cycling solo or indoors. Don't feel alone! Share your accomplishments with us.

February wasn't brilliant. Too busy! March is starting slowly as well. Lunches, meetings, etc. etc. eat into my walking time and the long commute really wears me out.

I put in a full 5-day week in the office for the first time since the beginning of December and I'm tired. We don't have much planned this weekend, except for the garden and cycling.

March is off to a good start with dry but cool weather. February fell short of my 300 mile goal due to 2 cataract surgeries and time off to recover. ides so far in March.

Finally got in back to back full rides this weekend. Weather was great, 65 - 75 degrees. It was a little windy though. Both days I was riding my Picnic Is. to Davis Is. route. 41 miles each day.

Got in 30 miles yesterday.....was mid 30s and brisk. I have never done any winter riding before so these first three are setting a great tone.

77 miles this week and gonna try for another 30 on Thursday.

March 17 was my first ride of the year this year. Took the N+1 gravel bike out on backroads for a 20kms ride. It was sunny and 12c (54f) outside - heart warming

I took a week off from work expecting to get some more miles in, but no, rainy cold weather interrupted. I did get in two nice rides in the Ocala Nat Forest for 42 miles each. They were a mix of paved and, new to me, non paved roads.

Finally got in two 27 mile Davis Is. after work rides this past week. I went out Saturday to Upper Tampa Bay Trail for 40 miles. Did not go according to plan. There was a big car crash that cut off a main road which diverted traffic to the route I was on. I got stuck in a long line of slow moving traffic for a bit. Then latter on, I had a garbage truck do a rolling stop at a stop sign. I had to go in the grass to avoid him. Not the most relaxing ride. Sunday was better. I was feeling good so I did my Courtney Campbell trail to Phillippe Park route for 43 miles. Nice weather both days.
