Moving shoulder straps have never bothered me.
Waistband rolling up and cutting into my gut is why I went to bibs in the first place.

Off road cyclists often like to pretend they aren't cyclists but instead survivalists happening to be seen on a bike, hence all the cargo short style shorts. But guess what.......all the UCI cross country and mtb world cup racers wear....................gasp....bibs and jerseys and not camouflage cargo shorts.

As others have said the straps provide lots of improvement in comfort.

I'd been using bibs only for about 5 years and recent went back to shorts. Late winter I suddenly developed a contact dermatitis reaction to the bibs I've been using the past few years.
What I had always disliked about shorts is how the elastic band went right across my stomach. I managed to fix that problem by pulling on the shorts then folding the waist band down over itself. I wish I thought to do that years ago. I may not go back to bibs now.
