is this used rim ok to buy?

wheel set for only $200. the rest of both rims looks great. thought I could use it as back up for my gravel bike and put on some gp 5000 32 when then become available again.

Good condition- few scratches, see pictures. Comes with some excellent condition conti 5000 TL 25c tires. No rotors. 142/100 through axel. Never crashed or needed truing, hubs roll perfect.
just concerned about this gash/nick.

Hard to say, need a pic of the backside of that to get a better feel for if it is superficial or going through. I wouldn't want to buy them without putting my hands on them and examining up close.

Obviously the wheel is not in my hand but if the wheel is true and evenly tensioned, check the bead seat area behind that scratch. It looks like its just a scratch, without a dent--if so, I wouldn't hesitate to ride it. I've seen a hell of a lot worse used regularly on a lot of trail bikes...

I probably wouldn't want to ride them but hey if I had doubts I probably wouldn't have gotten them. Hopefully it is just cosmetic.

Is that a front or rear?
I assume you're using disc brakes, so you don't have to worry about the brake track.

I don't think I'd use that as-is. I'm trying to imagine how the crack would impact the bead under pressure, and whether it would risk blowing off the side.

Ideally you would grind out the scratch in a taper, pack in new carbon fiber and resin. Clamp, dry/cure, then sand it back smooth and paint.

this looks like a pretty severe crack to the glued on clincher bead. For sure look at the inside of the bead.

just based on the pic you shared I would not give $20 for them unless you were going to replace the rim
