Addiction 2021.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good thing it's not the bassboat option (Oasis). It would suck to wreck that paint.

Seeing this bike... set up like that... made me upset at first. But then I decided to think of it like the lead actress in a 90's ugly duckling rom-com - they tried their best to make her ugly, but we see the hotness underneath.

Nice of them to keep this sign up for any boaters that might be out on the highway. Abottsford, BC.

Nope. To the contrary, it's notable how little it moved in the last decade.

I don't remember any big hubbub when it crossed the Mississippi in 1980; seems like there should have been.

I wonder if we're in the beginning of another really slow half century like 1890-1940. Maybe it'll go back, like Mercury in Retrograde

COVID may have disrupted the trend, but it had been going down for a while.

It's 59º here but falling temps and drizzle. Doubt that I get out, again.

Edit: The dummy went out and got soaked.

Oy. A week ahead of Thanksgiving and MN's covid cases are seeing a huge spike.

There was confirmed case in my son's class and those in close contact were asked to quarantine, so attendance will be thin through Thanksgiving; yesterday, they were at 14, down from 32 (my son was not among the close contacts).

Simultaneously, my SIL is post smug, maskless selfies, amid primarily masked PTA meetings, while "fighting for the freedom" of kids to not wear masks at school. And I'm supposed to sit across a table from her in 7 days.

Friday the CO. Sent out an email. We are under the madate. Basically get the shot or else. Yesterday an all hands meeting. Get the shot or else. (Fired) we are under the presidents mandate we accept govt money, makes us a govt. Contractors, Yada Yada Yada. They are offering $750.00 if you get it by a certain date.
A bunch of people went out, got the shot. They're off sick with reactions from it today.
This morning they walked it back to voluntary participation. Apparently we aren't govt contractors after all.
