Addiction 2021.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Map of the day. 3D East Coast edition.

That shift in the US population center might be all Manhattan's fault

My front brake track is silver, so I would really want to replace both for aesthetic considerations. Part of me wants to do polished silver, but I'm not sure how great that would look with black hubs & spokes.

Given those things, R460 is my first choice since the published ERD are within 1mm of the Archetypes, and they're black with silver machined sidewall. I built some CX wheels with them years ago and was really impressed. Of course, the 24 hole is in stock but not the 20

Hmm.....that doesn't look too bad at all.

Wish I could see something like this mocked up on my Holdsworth with tanwall tires.

Those black anodized brake tracks don't stay black for long. If you want to speed up the process, go for some rides in the rain.

More people now live in the other boroughs and across the Hudson in places like Newark, Hoboken and Jersey City. Newark is the most densely populated city in the most densely populated state. A lot of former industrial areas of Hoboken and Jersey City are now residential.

FIFM

The real question is whether to replace F&R or just the rear. If I did just the rear then they would look mismatched until the rear track wears off.

Hard ride. I do believe I gave myself exercise induced hypoglycemia the last 20 minutes of the ride. I have not had this before but pretty sure I got it. I could pedal ok, but felt jittery/shaky and a bit dizzy/off balance. It was not pleasant, but I feel much better now.

Thus the steep descents in wet weather.

If the diagnostic procedure determines my disc is bad, the rest of my life will be a choice of the least bad outcome. That sucks. I'll probably know by early December.

Sounds unpleasant. I’m surprised you’re not happy as a clam in deep ketosis, with the distances you do!

Usually I am. Luckily the jittery symptoms resolved with some food. All good!

Good thought, but I think not. I was plenty warm by the end of the ride. I am fairly sure it was my fault for not consuming enough carbs during the ride.
