Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Plan is to strip Habanero completely down after the holiday season and do the build over the winter. Really the only item I am unsure about is the headset. It’s a standard Cane Creek and 12 years old, never serviced but still smooth as butter. I don’t know whether to just leave it alone or ask LBS to replace bearings. Thoughts?
Service it. If it's smooth it's good.

won't matter unless you can get a threaded b.b. most new bb are press fit of some kind. They all have one thing in common. They all suck. Bb30, of 30, bb86 , bb90. Bb Dub of my ass. Garbage!
Threaded b.b. with bearing cups are still problematic at times but by far the best for those of us without personal mechanics.

Some people can ride 98 miles and claim they rode a century. Some can put on a century ride that's only 98 miles long.
I would say if you didn't change clothes, it's a century.

My latest amusement has been riding to increments of ALMOST a whole number, like 59.9 miles, and deliberately stopping my computer so I can show my wife the ride and infuriate her. Good times.

+100.

Saw another grocery cart parking garage leave-behind a couple of weekends ago. The cart corral was literally about 15' away.

I wants my cabin in rural Montana. Thing is, prices have gone through the roof since the pandemic. This place sold for around $158K in 2918. Asking price today is $550K. Even if the renovations were after the last sale, that's still insane.

What about the 'thread-together' sort, where the cups thread into each other rather than depending on press fit working?

That sounds like a valid qualifier to me.

Very impressed with the shipping speed of a package from Lordgun (Italy) - shipped Friday, delivered today. Got me some skinwall Pirelli P-Zero TLs for my Storck. I'm hoping I get the opportunity to mount them tonight.

Yeah. "54.9 miles. Do I go around the block to bring it up to 55? Or is that cheating?"

Why would your failure make your wife mad? Mine would just laugh.

Unless I fail to please her in some way.

nah, they still waller, (technical term) around in the cup and cause noises. I had aIToken on my '16 Tarmac and it made the same noises it's making now ...tick...tick tick...tick. Argh! Maddening. As a matter of fact the drive side bearing had fretted the cup of the insert to the point it fell out on disassembly. I glued it back in but the decided to use the brand new Dub bb I had instead. No change.

B.C.? If so, that's a really good buy, given 5000 years of inflation.
