Addiction LXXVIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Of course I *had* to do that cyclist thing wherein signs are ignored in favor of checking it out firsthand to see it's actually not passable on two wheels. I wasn't.

The real bummer is that that road is central to my westerly rides. I'll have to see if I can find out the schedule for re-opening and look at some alternatives for loops to the north or to the south of the lake, rather than the usual through/around.

Today is the first day in 6? 8? weeks that the people of Tixkokob can legally acquire alcoholic beverages. I will refrain from riding out on the open roads. Prolly tomorrow too.
On Tuesday, coming home from my visit with the plastic surgeon, we stopped at a fruit stand in a village we don't normally shop in. Their apples put to shame the Walmart apples I've been eating for years. It will be a good excuse to get back out on Monday. Maybe even on a roadbike. I'm an apple or two a day kinda guy

Looks like the back lawn is due for a mow, so I guess I'll head out there at some point. Gonna spread some of this on the NW lawn too.

East of Excelsior, it's *very* not bike friendly, and I'm not terribly familiar with it to the west of Excelsior, so I'll have to either drive it or click through a bunch of Google streetview before I'd feel comfortable with it.

Strava Heatmap on the Route Builder says that it's not ridden much, if at all. I'm guess there's a reason for that.

Oooooh - I like where this transitive effect is going. How much apple pie per day to keep the doctor away?

Raw apples. I could probably eat three or four apples worth of applesauce.

I've shouldered my bike on more than one occasion, to traverse unrideable road construction.
