Correct Brookes saddle for 1972, 193, 1974, 1975, and 1976 Schwinn Paramounts

How do I deterimine the correct Brookes saddle for the model years 1972-1976. All are P13 and P15 except the 1975 which is a P14 track bike.
Thanks!
Billy

I would have guessed that they would use the Brooks Pro with the small (mid-sized?) copper rivets. That was what came on some Raleighs of that era too.
However, my 1976 Schwinn catalog shows these Paramounts with suede(?) Unica-Nitor saddles. My memory failed again! The text does say that the Brooks Pro was an option.
No idea what the 72 to 75 models used, though.

Steve in Peoria

....here are the relevant pages from the 1976 catalog...

and a shot of the Pro with the mid-sized rivets that came on the Raleigh International...

First of all, welcome aboard, glad you found us, you're in the right place.

That being said, if you have all those Paramounts, we need pics, good ones and lots of them.

You need 5 posts X 2 days for ten to post them and you can upload them to your homepage album and they may get moved here.

Schwinn would give you whatever you wanted, special order, optional, swap out at the dealer, "correct" was what the buyer ordered, wanted and/or came on the bike at the time.

Many possibilities, most any Brooks Pro fits the bill just fine. Obviously, approximately correct year may be better but many were changed or replaced for different reasons.

Really no wrong answer here.

I've installed a Brooks B5N on my '71 P13--- just because--- it's different!

Billy.Thomas Can't wait to see pictures of your Paramount Collection.

IIRC it wasn't until '75 or '76 that the Unica-Nitor became an option on the Paramounts. Prior to this time it would have been a Brooks Professional.

Hopefully the shot of the background does not indicate that the B5Ns cause your buttocks to die...

In case you weren’t aware, you can find all of the Schwinn catalogs on Waterford’s site. The 1971-1980 catalogs;

Welcome abord. Go here you can look at the order forms and see the options you could get for most of your years. Schwinn Lightweight Data Book Models Overview
Brooks Pro's and Unica Niter would be correct for your years. Like Merziac says show us some picts.

I have yet to install one of the two Brooks' I have happened upon yet, and I saw a BN5 on the 'Bay for a starting bid of $30...I decided not to go down the route.

I think I have enough options to keep me second guessing equipment!

All original early-mid 70's Schwinn Paramounts I've seen with Brooks saddles have the brown Pro with small copper rivets.

I would put just about any Brooks on them that made riding more pleasurable.

but that's just me.

Tho not from ‘70s.
