Anyone ever have a Spooky Commute?

In the spirit of Halloween, I would love to read some spooky commuter stories. Or maybe some local legends from your area. Fact or Fiction 🤙

I've told this story before but what the heck

I came across a turkey carcass one morning in the middle of the bike trail. It was very recently killed and something had been eating it fresh, blood still red and wet. In the middle of it was an intact egg.

My commute (Empire Grade, fwiw) has a turkey carcass and a deer carcass within about 50 feet, which is clearly a bad omen.

The deer really began to expand, and the other day it popped, and there was this huge puddle of brown sludge in the middle. The smell was shockingly bad. I soon figured out that if I held my breath as soon as I saw the deer remains, and kept it held until I reached the dead turkey, I would keep about 90% of the stink out of my nostrils.

Oddly, the turkey carcass itself never smelled at all, even before the bloated deer carcass ruptured.

🤣🤣
Dungavenhooter, a crocodile creature with no mouth and huge nostrils. The creature uses its tail to pound loggers into a gaseous vapor, which it then inhales for sustenance.[5

not a bike commute story but completely freaked me out

one of my last visits to my parents house, after my Dad passed a way this summer, a music box that my Dad bought for my Mom in Switzerland, w/ me about 50 yrs ago, when I was 14, started playing on it's own. hasn't played in decades. hasn't been wound in decades. just decided to play on it's own. I went to get my Mom so she could see it turning & playing. by time I got her to the living room, it had stopped. we walked over to it & it played again but just for a few seconds. long enough for her to see it & hear it & for the figures to move ... it was him, we're both sure of it

This time of year, it's quite dark during my morning commutes. Some people's Halloween decorations have freaked me out as I ride by them. Last year, the day after Halloween, I didn't see it until I was going by it, but it was about 8 feet across and about 4 feet tall, right along the road, black and had some white near the top front (eyes?? TEETH??!), and it was moving. All I could think of as I sped up as fast as I could was giant spider. I hope it was just someone's decoration. It wasn't there in the evening on my ride home.

This time of year my early morning route through a "tree tunnel" on a country bike path is dark as dark can be. I often see the eyes of wild animals reflected back at me from my head light. I never know exactly what kind of animal it is looking at me.

One Halloween I was riding a unicycle home from college at night and some teens in a car threw an egg at me (it missed).

Trick or treat.

My commute in Denver was near a graveyard. I used to go through the graveyard a lot.
