Chrome 1972 Schwinn Paramount (SOLD)
** SOLD **
(Please note that this is not my bike. Read the entire listing before responding. Any description of particular components which are incorrect are my fault, not Michael's.)
I'm helping Michael Barrett (Barrettscv) sell his 1972 chrome Schwinn Paramount (s/n C72159) which happens to be in my basement. The frame and components are in excellent condition. I did not see any chrome pitting. Michael checked with Waterford on the original build. As I understand it, the bar end shifters and Campy brake calipers were spec'd as part of the original build from the factory. Component details:
The asking price is $1500. If you want to discuss price with Michael or have questions that can't be answered by me simply taking more photos, let me know and I will put you in touch (or you can message Michael via the mention link above).

Price seems fair considering it's great condition and CHROME!
TG it is a little large for me.

A bike I would welcome! A chrome Paramount in my size but out of my budget.

Awesome bike, price seems fair, but not quite my size and I promised my wife I wouldn't buy any more Paramounts this year.

Consider the price of a new Waterford frame, not even built up, and one can see the value of this impressive piece of Schwinn history.
I also have this free piece of crack - just try it once, you’ll love it…

^^^ EXACTLY! I built a 1973 for my friend who bought it in pieces . My only payment I wanted was to be able to ride it. “As good as it gets “ was my reaction. Could’ve ridden further. Joe

Question: Does a chrome '72 P-13 ride differently and better than a painted '71 P-13? I need to know in order to convince Mrs. PB I need to make such an expenditure.

I am so proud of myself. This is the second bike that has been on BF for sale and I have resisted. The other was that Masi.

Has this theory been tested yet? I suggest PB purchases the chrome bike and then tests it back to back to back with the painted bike a la Bicycle Quarterly and he keeps the fastest bike.
In the name of science, you should buy this bike, @pastorbobnlnh. (Plus, it would look fantastic at Cino!)

I'm going to :bump: this. Michael is willing to entertain offers (I'm thinking $1200 range), but is pretty adamant that he doesn't want to sell it to someone who will just flip it. So, if you're looking for a very nice chrome Schwinn Paramount to add to your stable, check it out...

A wise man once recently said: 'It matters not, beautiful chrome Paramount at a well reasonable ask, make it so. '
Bike purchases such as this are the reason credit exists
(it's too small fer me, and I have too many bikes already...)

Yes. It's newer, it's betterer. It's got 1/10th of a degree difference in the crankshaft axleway which should result in a largely pleasurable ride

it may be too small for YOU , but at 24.5” I think it is too big for DD . He must be talking himself out of it(ha ha). It is close enough to my size but my budget doesn’t support it. A chrome Paramount …my size…hmmmm…RESIST-RESIST!

Such discipline, very admirable! I am pretty much at my limit as well. I always told myself that when I have so many bikes that I can’t ride them all in rotation AND maintain them, I need to reevaluate. I certainly am not a curator, more rider and moderate collector/ wrencher .
