Bontrager Floor Pump issue
I purchased the Bontrager Dual Charge floor pump this past summer and love it. It has the high volume setting which is supposed to be for up to 80 PSI tires and the high pressure setting for above 80. Since my tires on my bikes are max 50 and max 70 I have always used the high volume setting. Yesterday the high volume setting stopped working on my tires. Without a tire when pumping I feel the air but once I put it on any of the tires on my 2 bikes you can barely press down for air. When I switch to the high pressure setting it works fine. Anyone come across this issue with one of these pumps?

Maybe the tube valves are sticky, requiring greater force to cause them to function properly.. That could explain why the high pressure setting works for them and the other does not.

Bontrager warranty for parts and accessories is 2 years. You might see if it is a valid claim for whatever the warranty terms actually are. A Trek dealer can help you with that.

Actually 6 months - I got it in the summer. I wouldn't think that after 6 months the pump would be wearing out? Never thought of cleaning out the pump - I take it you need to take it apart? I called Bontrager for their thoughts on this and if they have seen it before but they must be off today.

When you mean stopped working can you be more specific? Does the air from the tire flow back into the pump pushing the handle up? If so above is correct and the check valve is stuck. If only six months old, you got it from your local shop and are on good terms, take it in and see if they will help under warranty. If not you’ll need to figure out how to clean and lube the check valve. I have a Joe Blow pump I had to take apart and do this. Just Spraying silicone worked for a tire or two.

Yep. Sounds like the check valve and each chamber has its own. I don’t see any guidance using my Google foo.

Take it back to the shop you bought it from. I've had to have two different pumps warranted in the past six months for different reasons. No questions asked.

I had a pump that the pressure relief blew off and shot somewhere that I could not find the piece. I took to my local Trek store to get the part to fix it. They just gave me a new pump.
Try returning it.
