Cycling.Body Odor and our car's upholestry.
I like to think I am a purist, I always bike to where the tour starts. Today, this would have been impossible. It was a heck of a climb with 20 miles of climbing. So we drove our car. / It was hot and we rode from nearly sea level to a 5000 foot summit. I knew we were getting pretty smelly just from following my group. I could smell them from 20 feet away. So , we descened the 20 miles in the heat. It was over 90. In the past I thought the stink just disapates in the breeze. With the AC on , i knew the car was getting stinky. When I got home; I left the windows open to fumigate the car. My wife took the car for errands and she can't stand the smell. I will use Fabrege to fumigate the upholestry. We need a new car sometime soon. Hope this does not speed up the process.

This reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where a car park attendant stinks up a car so badly that nothing works to remove the smell. Do you have leather or cloth seats? If you have cloth, use a carpet steam cleaner on your seats.

Joe. This is hardly the first the car has been used to transport cyclists and bikes. We just must have been more saturated with sweat in that today's ride was really a rough one. When the car was new, I'd cover the seats with objects such a towels. Our seats are cloth. I saturated the seats with Fabreze. See how it smells in the morning.

Don't Bug Me
I ride to cycling sites a lot, I have a car with cloth upholstery and I am a sweaty mess when I am done. I usually take a large towel along and I cover up the driver's seat and seat back for the ride home. I'll use the towel a couple of times and then I throw it in the wash. Seems to work for me.

If you have a SEBO vacuum dealer nearby, see if they stock a product called Duo-P powder, should be under $20 a bag, one bag should do the interior. Its meant for stains, but does a good job on smells too. Any not used, do the bag up tight and it will last 3 months or so.

I just had the same problem. But I also left a jersey in the car over the weekend and it got really ripe inside. I used a Renuzit car deodorant spray on all the carpeting and cleaned the dash, etc. with Green Works from Clorox. Worked great.

There were three of us coming back from this hot ride. I can't believe I kept the windows closed with the a/c on. I Washed the car today. The Fabreze seemed to tame the stink.
