Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At that price point, you can't really miss. It becomes a matter of preference for the subtleties. I'm not sure what the current prices are, but Michter's, Booker's, and Rowan's Creek are ones I have particularly enjoyed in recent history.

Our German shepard shed like it was his job. He shed his fur faster than we could vacuum it up.

For that price, I’d buy scotch or Irish, but that’s just me.

It's a preference thing. I will always pick a bourbon or rye over scotch or irish, if I have the choice.

So instead, go for 3 bottles of decent bourbon.

For a different twist, look into Japanese Whiskey. A buddy of mine has a couple that he's shared with me. Excellent stuff.

Scotch, maybe. Irish? It's like Scotch, but without the flavor.

I recently did a tasting of some Buffalo Trace bourbons. The W.L. Weller Special Reserve was nice in that price range.

If its for a true bourbon drinker Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon or Woodford Reserve or Eagle Rare or Van Winkle. Most good bourbons are priced in the $50-75 range unless its a special edition or single barrel. Blanton’s Single Barrel is about $100 and is a great bourbon!

One of our local distilleries makes a tasty rye.
