Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

put a white saddle and bar tape on that Cannondale and it would look just like one of my riding buds bikes

he also had bar end shifters installed - before he went campy ergo

brings back great memories

edit: hmmm - wait a second - cantilever brakes ? what frame is that ?

It's a touring bike. Notice the third bottle cage? It has a steel fork with eyelets for racks and fenders. And stupid canti brakes and a long wheelbase. I had mixed feelings about selling it but I hadn't ridden it in 10 years.

I also had a red CAAD5.

apologize - I missed the word 'touring' - and although I later spotted the canti brakes I missed the long chainstays

I still have 3.0 frame - also had a 2.8 (but no longer)

Reposition the brake levers up a bit and get some padded bar tape. I've even double wrapped the bar tape on a stiff riding bike. Some new pads and maybe even new cables will probably help the brakes a bit.
Also, work on supporting your upper body with your core muscles instead of leaning on your hands so much. You should be able to motor along with just a light pressure on your hands, even ride with your hands just "floating" above the bars.
The bike is perfect for me. I have ridden it over seventy miles in the since Monday morning including over 30 today, and have ridden it many hundreds of miles over the last year I can not even count or guess at. Having never seen someone sit on a bike, I don't know how you can comment on how it fits them. The bike is the way it is right now because that is the way I like to ride it, sans bar tape. The only thing I meant about the brakes is that they could be adjusted closer to the rims so they will work with less lever movement. Thanks for your time though........
